Conservative Virtual Party Conference

Over the weekend, the Conservatives held their virtual Party Conference. A fringe event explored issues in social care and examined the opportunities for reform. Damian Green MP warned that the issues in social care will persist without reform and laid out three possible alternatives to the current system, a NHS type system, a fully privatised system and an insurance based model.

Jane Ashcroft, Chief Executive of Anchor Hanover highlighted the role housing associations could have in the social care system. She spoke about the current issues in the social care system on funding, the workforce and quality of care before highlighting the importance of incorporating housing policy with social care reform.
