Format of the NFOP AGM/Conference 2021

We have previously advised members that the ongoing uncertainty caused by Covid-19 was having an impact on our preparations for AGM/Conference 2021.

In view of the pandemic we had been planning for a physical Conference in May 2021 whilst at the same time, looking at the feasibility of holding a ‘virtual’ AGM / Conference. We also committed to keeping members advised and updated.

The Executive Committee met recently to discuss the situation. They concluded that on the basis of information available to us at this time, the uncertainty that seems likely to continue into the first half of 2021, and the necessity to provide the maximum time for planning and preparation, a decision on the format / structure of the 2021 AGM / Conference needed to be taken now. It has therefore been decided that the 2021 AGM / Conference will be a ‘virtual’ one.

This was not an easy decision to make, nor was it one that was taken lightly. The EC however is resolute in its belief that it is the correct decision which puts the health, safety and wellbeing of our members front and centre and seeks to eliminate uncertainty in our planning and preparations. Whilst the arrival of the vaccine is clearly a very positive step, the early months of 2021 will continue to be characterised by uncertainty and unpredictability. Indications are that the UK will continue to operate within geographical ‘Tiers’,with restrictions on travel and large social gatherings maintained or reimposed at short notice which could result in a physical Conference event being prohibited or with severe restrictions placed on numbers.
All effort will now be directed towards the delivery of a successful and inclusive, virtual event. Once again, we hope very much that Delegates and Members will understand and appreciate the rationale for this decision which the EC has taken in the very best interests of members and to ensure that the best possible preparations can be made for AGM / Conference 2021 in these uncertain and unpredictable circumstances.
